Welcome to our 2020 Festival of Walking. In the largest Festival yet, we offer you Farnham, its villages and the beautiful Surrey and Hampshire countryside that surrounds us. Set across the three weeks from 16 May to 7 June, we have walks for all – whatever your age, fitness or walking ability. We offer a range from half-mile strolls around town to 20-mile hikes through the countryside and everything in between. All walks during this festival are led by experts in their field and most are free of charge to join. What do you fancy? A Shakespeare Sonnet Walk? A kid's Treasure Hunt? An eleven-mile pilgrimage? They're all here.
The Festival is organised by Farnham Town Council. This year we have expanded the festival to over 70 walks throughout a three-week period. Most walks are free to join but booking is essential where required. www.FarnhamWalkingFestival.org |

Painshill, in Cobham, is one of the finest English landscape gardens in the world and where you are invited to take a walk in a work of art. Inspired by landscape painting on a grand tour to Europe, Charles Hamilton designed a living canvas. Take a journey through his masterpiece and explore a series of simply stunning views and dramatically placed follies. Stroll around the Serpentine Lake, wander through woodland and discover buildings like the Temple of Bacchus and a sparkling Crystal Grotto. Complete your visit with a trip to the Tea Room. Dogs are welcome on short leads.

The Surrey Hills Society is an independent charity promoting the positive enjoyment and care of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for those who live, work in, or visit the area. The Society encourages people to explore and learn about the special qualities and distinctiveness of the area.
Over a quarter of the county is in the Surrey Hills AONB but it is amazing how many residents still aren’t aware of the amazing countryside and heritage right on their doorstep. The Society runs a series of walks, talks and visits throughout the year, each month for members to enjoy and learn more about where they live. www.surreyhillssociety.org |
